CLASS assassin HEIGHT/WEIGHT 174cm / 65kg SOURCE tosa-han, japan ALIGNMENT neutral ・ evil ATTRIBUTES humanoid TEMPERAMENT sanguine-melancholic VOICE yoshino hiroyuki ETC kink NOBLE PHANTASMS SHIMATSUKEN. rank C | anti-unit [ ✖ ]. a blade of resolution, or this servant's "noble phantasm"—a powerful skill that symbols their historical existence. izou's is the ability to copy any sword technique at a single glance and mold it into his own. his inability to duplicate any blade-related skills with unique magical properties (fire, void, etc.) is one of its limitations. | A fearsome killer who lost sight of the scenery from better days, Izou was born into a family of goshi, a lower caste of samurai. In life, his sole claim to fame was his prowess with a blade despite being initially self-taught, and being one of four famous man-slayers. As the era swept on, and men grew more impatient and ambitious against the rising tide of change, Izou would eventually find himself caught up in its wake. That which he was so proud of would eventually lead to bleak skies, and fearful stares, and suddenly the praise wasn’t so worth it anymore, and as a result, he was captured and prosecuted for a series of killings he performed for a "righteous" cause in the capital. After enduring seemingly endless months of severe torture, Izou was eventually beheaded and put on display. That said, as a Servant, Izou’s a guy who is easy to tease, quick to anger, and often insists he isn’t all that bright. He's got no qualms about initiating a fight, or at most murdering (or threatening to kill) people who irritate him. Just someone who killed and killed without remorse for the praise and fame, only to be abandoned by everyone he trusted. Despite the childish behavior, the bravado, and the horror that once stalked the streets at night, Izou has his own hidden vulnerabilities. A man who can only kill can’t do much for others besides that, and so, he believes that his worth is nothing beyond the single thing he can do. It’s a little funny. No matter how self-assured he is, that nagging feeling will never leave – the feeling that he’ll never be anything more than a killer soaked in red.TRAITS.

→ we see izou being generous towards the child-coded servants in fate/grand order, so a part of me likes to assume he's good with kids... as long as they're not being bratty. this is also partly my way of trying to imagine a semi-decent relationship with his little brother, okada keikichi, as izou was technically the family successor until he passed.
comments from other servants.
FATE/GRAND ORDER:
→ Okita Souji (Saber):
"Okada Izou... Yes, I do recognize the name. He was a man feared in Kyoto during the Bakumatsu as Man-Slayer Izou. He and the Shinsengumi seemed fated to cross paths, to say the least. I never had the opportunity to duel him... Maybe now's a good chance to set things straight."
→ Okita Souji (Alter):
"Hm, it's that man-slayer. I do have to acknowledge that Izou's swordsmanship is genius-level, and even I may not match up against him. Well, if that were to happen, I'd simply beam him to death."
→ Okita Souji (Alter, Rengoku):
* "Oka, da... that's, uh... oh, yeah! That guy they call Daoka. Don't let him get too close to my lord, mm-kay? Leave it be and she'll wind up mimicking that sword style of his. Despite how it looks, his techniques are pretty advanced, meaning it's unsuitable for my lord... or rather, trying to replicate it'll only make her weaker. And besides, I don't want that idiocy of his to rub off on her."
→ Okita Souji (Assassin):
"Ah, Daoka. What's with that face? Huh? Don't go walking around looking like a fool, you say?! What the...?! I would understand if I still had my jetpack, but I can't believe you'd say such a thing about this all-too-wonderful swimsuit! Besides, I noticed that you've been acting all hotheaded, calling yourself a genius swordsman, but the Bakumatsu's strongest and genius pretty girl swordswoman is me, Okita-san! The pretty girl title definitely sets me apart from you four infamous man-slayers!"
→ Saitou Hajime (Saber):
"Izou the man-slayer... I have to admit that his swordsmanship is impressive. He's not exaggerating when he calls himself a genius. But then again, his social skills could use some work. It's all pointless once you're dead, after all."
→ Sakamoto Ryouma (Rider):
Ryouma: "Long time no see, Izou-san. Wait, wait, wait a sec! Put down your sword! It'd be nice if we could be friends like we were back in the day, at least while we're here."
Oryou: "Can I punch this guy?"
→ Sakamoto Ryouma (Lancer):
Ryouma: "I'm so happy to be fighting alongside you, Izou-san. Yeah, it makes me really happy. Hey, wait...wait a sec, don't pull out your sword. Sorry...I'm really sorry. Slip of the tongue."
Oryou: "D-Don't get the wrong idea! I-It's not like I wanted this or anything!"
Ryouma: "Where did you learn how to act like that?"
→ Takasugi Shinsaku (Archer):
"Is that Okada-kun over there?! Whoa, whoa, hey, don't run away. We were buddies who played and had fun when we were in Edo, weren't we? With my money, that is. How about this? We should go paint the town red tonight for the first time in ages. Our Master has plenty of money, so there's no need to worry. Okay?!"
